Virgin Soldiers win McFly support slot!

Great news about Virgin Soldiers this week! The current Unchart #3 have been confirmed as McFly's support act at their Folkestone gig, in Leas Cliff Hall on Wednesday 14th March 2012. They're also going a long way to securing their position as an Unchart Record-breaker, having been in the Top 5 for 55 weeks to date.

The Christmas Unchart (poem)

‘Twas the Unchart before Christmas, and all through the house

Jamie could be heard, clicking his mouse

Speaking into a microphone, counting the votes

Who will be Number 1…perhaps Bill? He notes.

Or any of the Top 5, who’ve been here some time

Perhaps Virgin Soldiers will once again climb?

The Direction, Damn Vandals, Paige Elizabeth Guy,

Tough crowd tonight!

(5th June 2011) A couple of songs on tonight's Unchart received some rather harsh criticism, in my opinion. I always welcome constructive criticism on the show, but the mighty voices of Billy Moschella Jr. (from Serenity) and Adele Paris were rather slammed by one listener. Perhaps it wouldn't have been inappropriate for me to have defended them more than I actually did during the show. Sorry to you both, and I'll make up for it on next week's show!

In Memoriam: Bill Steele, Roots & Galoots

I dedicated last Sunday's Midnight Banquet (8th May 2011) to Bill Steele, guitarist and singer in the Swansea-based bluegrass band Roots & Galoots. When they played in Pontardawe, I managed to collect a ’100th gig’ celebratory keyring, which has remained on my bunch of keys ever since. I also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Bill and the band for the odd jam. He will be sadly missed by all.
