Last Time

La Roux scored her first UK #1 as 'Bulletproof' powered to the top of the chart last Sunday. She displaced David Guetta & Kelly Rowland to #2 with 'When Love Takes Over' and another former number 1 from Black Eyed Peas as 'Boom Boom Pow' sat at #3. The tragic death of Michael Jackson had an impact into the countdown, despite only 2 days worth of sales from his back catalogue counting towards the rundown. There were 4 tracks inside the top 40, the highest of which went to #6 for 'Man in the Mirror'. 'Thriller', 'Billie Jean' and 'Beat It' also re-emerged.

Elsewhere there were new entries for Florence & The Machine and Basement Jaxx inside the top 20.

On the albums chart, Jackson fever had more of an effect as 'Number One's' - the album originally released in 2003 returned to #1 and pushed Kasabian's 'West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum' release to #2 ahead of Paolo Nutini, a resurgant Take That and Daniel Merriweather.

Next Week

It's difficult to tell what effect Michael Jackson's death will have on the chart, he could well be #1 next week on both charts and have any number of other records re-entering. Amongst those brand new releases next week include: Akon, Cascada, Gaslight Anthem, Jamie T, Saturdays, White Lies and Kings of Leon. Albums wise, La Roux releases her debut album and has a shot at topping both Singles and Albums charts.
